GKD designs and fabricates ready-to-use filters for a wide range of filter equipment. Whether cylinders, discs, multi-layered or special geometry, the capability is extensive. Custom is standard at GKD.
Such filters are used for liquids, solids and gas filtration. Applications exist in automotive, aerospace and mining; in chemical and petrochemical; for paper, textile and polymer processes; for brewing, distilled and other beverages; for food and pharmaceutical; and for many general industrial processes too numerous to mention.
Filter Leaves - GKD filter elements for vertical or horizontal pressure vessel fluid filtration are known worldwide. These filter leaves typically operate in a pre-coat process where they must be durable and effective in repetitive cycles. Most leaves are bottom drain types, with an outlet at the bottom location
NeverLeak™ filter leaves are GKD’s brand of multi-ply filter element using a special cloth tightening process and a special weld process to secure the filter fabric to the support structure. As the Neverleak implies, the result is leaf with no leak areas for infiltration. This style is produced in 5-ply and 7-ply configurations, but 3-ply and other multi-ply configurations are also possible. Neverleak leaves have an added advantage of being re-screenable for re-use several times.

Riveted filter leaves are constructed in multi-layers as well, but use a u binding on the perimeter. These are sealed with gasket material and then riveted. Construction is economical, but performance is not equal to Neverleak styles. Riveted leaves have a very limited repair potential. The typical riveted leaf is a 3-ply construction.
Other constructions include the center hub styles that are mounted on a central manifold. Constructions are multi-ply. The perimeter can be sealed, but the 2 piece hubs are typically bolted. These leaves can be re-screened as well. Certain center mount versions are used in vertical tanks that filter through one side only. The other side is a convex stainless steel “bowl” that serves to capture and direct liquid fold to the central piping after filtration.

Shaped Disc Screens and Mesh Packs – Finished filter screens of single or multi-layers are engineered and produced by GKD according to specification. The combinations of mesh materials and perimeter finishing are too numerous to list. Shapes range from circles, squares, and ovals to kidney shapes and other custom geometries. Some screens are made of mechanically or thermally bonded layers to meet absolute filtration requirements.
Many screens are used in polymer filtration, but the textile, automotive, food, and industrial uses are many.
Cylindrical Filter Elements – This type of filter can be the most complex. Construction variables include the structural supports, intermediate supports, primary and secondary filtration meshes and materials and capping, sealing and connection members and methods. Whatever the requirement, the GKD technical team will design a new solution or improve on your existing element to help you add value to your process.
Such filters are used in fluid and gaseous applications in chemical, food, pharmaceutical, petroleum, general industrial, mining, automotive, and many additional industries.
